Product Engineering Specialist

Under the supervision of the Technical Team Supervisor, the PE Specialist is responsible for producing samples according to the requests received from Sales and Marketing Engineering.
Samples may include digital, grid, clear or printed according to the requirements of the customers.
Additional duties will be to support the PE process team in maintain the Bill of Material database on all label and shrink products produced by AFS.
Responsibilities:
Creates samples for market testing.
Maintains necessary supplies and material inventory.
Reviews template designs for label size and reconcile any required changes.
Reviews material type based on shrink percent.
Maintains records on all sample requests and prepare a monthly report on sample activity.
Maintains familiarity and awareness with the development of specifications to serve as a backup for this function.
Prepares proper paperwork for production trials.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Develops and maintains the Bill of Material database that will drive the production model for all products produced by the Company.
Assists in defining and administrating the specifications of new products by coordinating and collecting the necessary inputs from Manufacturing, Sales and PE Technical Services.
Administers the Bill of Materials database, including the maintenance of part numbers and engineering master plans.
This information is key to accurate production planning and reporting.
Researches and identifies opportunities to increase profitability by promoting innovative order processing and scheduling approaches.
Supports the Manager of Production Control with the development of production standards for new processes and products.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Time between Product Engeering and PE Process will be split roughly 75%/25%, but will be based on specific needs within the group.
Exhibits a willingness to work required hours and to be able to prioritize and work independently Possesses excellent people skills, verbal skills, and written communications skills Has proficient computer skills with MS Office programs Mechanically inclined with the ability to handle heavy lifting and light travel.
Technical degree or comparable experience in label design or production activities.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
